The Poison Act

The black beetle will effect.
by blood and by wine.
The barley, the oats affect there
                        all alone.
The poison and the aster remain standing
                                      alone.

I must admit that I'm completely baffled by this poem. It's either inscrutable, or I've done a horrifically bad job of translating it.
